Unsung Heroes of Pollination!

We welcome all to come spend the day and learn about the local ecosystem, participate in eco-art, and enjoy the beautiful St. Edward's, two year-old Food Forest. We will discuss how to get the absolute most out of plants, ranging from edible and medicinal uses, pollination science, cultural uses, and biophilic use through art.

The best way to learn about plants is by getting your hands dirty, so following our guest speakers, attendees will have the opportunity to plant pollinator plants and native shrubs.

We will also have kids activities, such as making seed balls, painting, and more! Bring your friends and family, and enjoy nature, socializing, and refreshments on the Hilltop!

Rain Date: Sat. Nov. 2nd at 10am

Hooves & Talons Trail Walk: Come for the Treats, Stay for the Tweets!

Healing with Horses Ranch and the City of Austin's Roots & Wings Festival proudly presents: the Hooves & Talons Trail Walk! Come for the treats, stay for the tweets! This event is a free, open to the community event to celebrate Halloween, Day of the Dead, & our beautiful urban ecosystem in a safe, fun environment. Attendees will be able to join us on our 47 acres of preserved land on the edge of the city, meet members of our therapy horse herd, participate in nature & wildlife themed activities, contribute to our pet ofrenda, join in a raffle, browse community vendors, and take home a plentiful bounty of treats & crafts!

At each station or booth along the trail walk, youth & their families will be able to pick up a sweet treat, participate in an activity, or browse local goods. This year, we are excited to provide additional activities for guests to enjoy, including a scavenger hunt, owl pellet dissecting, nature mask crafting, face painting & more! Our staff and volunteers will be in costume and we would love to see you in costume suitable for all ages too! This is a "BYOBasket" event for all those sweet treats you will pick up along the trail.

We strive to be an accessible event. For accessible parking please talk to a volunteer when you arrive. Please note that our property consists of manicured natural trails that are free of large debris and mowed. However, there are still some hills, uneven ground, and natural obstacles. Most individuals using motorized wheelchairs, all terrain walkers, crutches, and/or other mobility aids have been able to navigate the hills, uneven ground, and natural obstacles. Additionally, most strollers fare just fine on the trails. This event has minimal potential to have flashing lights, loud sounds, and/or other sensory elements that may be more intense for some.
